Midnight Ponderings

I woke up last night with the thought that love is the most significant emotion we can have.  It feeds our souls and makes life worth living.  But as the night wore on, I realized that loving is a very 'Win/Lose situation.  When we love another, we are filled with such a heady, wonderful comleteness that even infinity seems too short a time to say it all.  That's the Win.  But when that love is lost, through separation, distance or even death, the loss seems to consume all other emotions and leaves nothing but the pain - the Lose.

So, there in my bed last night, I thought why do we continue to chance it with love.  Why do we need to expeience that torture when we could avoid it all by learning to live alone, enjoy the more carnal pleasures of food and drink and put no one before ourselves?  I think perhaps it is because, in that short time when we love totally, we are given a peak into eternity to see what 'forever' will bring   Love is just the tease, the bait by which our Creator makes the promise to take us home to perfect love.

OR..... maybe I'm just reflecting these thoughts is  because I am getting the flu and have a fever.  Hmmmm
